The
Botanical Gardens (Jardín Botánico) are located next to the Prado Museum, and were inaugurated by King Carlos III in 1781 after he successfully sent out scientific expeditions all over the world to help build up a collection of more than 30,000 species of plants, including several varieties of tropical plants housed in a large hothouse. These were not far from my favorite
tapas restaurant in Madrid, Los Gatos (The Cats).
