An Australian Tradition
Every two years the Brisbane city council arranges to collect large items such as used appliances from people's homes. So everyone puts out an astonishing variety of miscellaneous and improbable items over the two week period. Then they go around picking up items from other people's piles and bring them home. Very interesting. Above is our pile and a shot of the desk chair after someone added it to their pickup truck pile.

Birding Lockyear Valley After Rains
It has been raining a lot so we went birding today in the Lockyear Valley to see if we could find any good birds. It was wonderful to see so much water and see everything so green. Saw lots of birds and even found a wild koala! The small birds on the ground above are cockatiels, which you often see in pet shops.
