At Jupiter's Casino

We took Mom to Jupiter's Casino on the Gold Coast on one of her last days here in Australia. She had a lot of fun playing the machines.

The Gold Coast is a beautiful place to be. Tim and I often spend weekends there, and Mom really enjoyed our day down there.

At the Crocodile Hunter's Park

Near the end of her trip we took Mom to the Crocodile Hunter's theme park at Australia Zoo, where we of course saw a great salt water croc show.

Mom decided to say a quick goodbye to Jennifer and make her exit.

Here is Mom and a big bird - a cassowary. These are found in Northern Queensland and Papau New Guinea.

When we were driving along in Brisbane we would often see parrots. These pink and grey parrots are called galahs.

Here I am in my poofy hat and academic gown. This is what I wear to graduation ceremonies, when I sit on the stage with the other professors. 

Kangaroo Town

We went for a trip up the coast, to the Eumundi markets, but was unfortunately a rainy day. But we did get to stop in Toorbul, where we got to see the kangaroos hanging out in town...

Toorbul is a great place to live if you like kangaroos! 

Overlooking Brisbane

Mom then took to seeing the sights of Brisbane. Here we are on top of Mount Coo-tha, overlooking downtown Brisbane. 

Here Mom gets up close and friendly with emus at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. They are mad because Tim ate their second-cousin last night....
